To Sleep in a Sea if Stars is an epic and immense space odyssey filled with brilliant science fiction elements and a resounding heart. When I first received my ARC, I was overwhelmed by the sheer size of the novel and I wasn’t quite sure if I would be able to conquer it. After putting it off for a few weeks, I finally dove into this beautiful work of art and enjoyed every single moment as I flipped from page to page and cover to cover. I was immediately immersed in Kira’s world and never once felt like reading the book was a chore despite its intimidating size. I’m fully convinced that Christopher Paolini is a creative genius. He has somehow managed to craft a book filled with action and technical terms, while retaining a truly touching human aspect that kept me emotionally engaged. Although the book is set far away from earth in the distant future, Paolini’s characters are incredibly real and relatable (even the alien species). I felt every ounce of their pain, heartbreak, frustration, fear, joy, and companionship. The ending is perhaps one of the most poignant conclusions I have ever read and left me with a deep sense of satisfaction and a smile on my face. This book is truly a classic in the making and should not be missed.
