I read the Eragon series when I was younger and loved them. I re-read them as an adult and found that, though they were still good, they didn't hold the same magic. One of my biggest complaints was the lack of female characters and the author's inability to write those that existed realistically.
When I heard that Paolini was writing a science-fiction book for adults, I was intrigued, more so after hearing the main protagonist, Kira, was female. (I always tend to gravitate toward female-lead SFF works.) Although still a little worried, I was excited to give the author a go, considering he has had many more years to hone his voice.
So far, I am not disappointed. Kira seems like an interesting character. Although it's still quite early to tell, I really want to read more about her and her story. The author's voice also sounds more refined than in Eragon, and I'm excited to read a book geared towards adults rather than YA.
All-in-all, I can't stress enough how excited I am for this book!
