I had the opportunity to read the first few chapters of Christopher Paolini's soon to be released "To Sleep in a Sea of Stars." I'm a long time reader and reviewer of science fiction, particularly hard-sf and literary-sf. It quickly became apparent that the most important component of this work was going to be the female-perspective romance plot, albeit graced with the trappings of space opera. The tip-offs were the emphasis on clothing and hair - and Kira's dreamy thoughts of Alan. The speculative concepts such as space transports and alien contact were purely off-the-shelf.

If I'm wrong, and the book changes, please send me a copy and convince me. If I'm right, no problem, thanks for the offer.
