I need to start off by saying how stunningly beautiful this cover is. Even if I didn't like what was written inside (which I did!) I probably would've bought this book just to display that cover.

Sci-fi is a very hit or miss genre for me. I either love it or hate it, with no wiggle room in between. To Sleep in a Sea of Stars is off to a very intriguing start, and I definitely plan to continue reading. The story follows Kira, a xenobiologist in a future where space exploration is extremely advanced to the point where humans have colonized several other planets and moons. So far, we are shown that Kira has people she cares about and the promise of a life full of love. I feel like that will be important to know/remember as we witness Kira go through the journey we're told she'll take. The cliffhanger that the excerpt left us on has me dying for more.

I'm dying to know more about this future that Paolini has created. What are these other colonies like? What is the technology the characters are using? Aliens?!?
