Jupiter, I’m sorry, Zeus, is the first thing we see in this first look, and it just draws you right in. Kira, our main character, is a xenobiologist working on a planet right by Zeus, where she has finally met the love of her life. They are all ready to settle down together on this planet, but she has one more quick mission to do. Then Kira gets swallowed up by space dust.
Um what?
The setting of this book is awesome, and the tech that Paolini has created is unique. Kira seems to have some good character traits already. I also appreciated how Paolini’s characters find their tech and tasks mundane. (Neghar wanting Kira to hurry up for cinnamon rolls is the most relatable moment in a space expedition I’ve read.) I have no idea how Kira is going to get herself out of the black dust that seems to have suffocated her. I’d love to read more!
