I don't usually (ever) read this genre, but this is pretty interesting. I connected with the main character and the writer's voice was clear and easy to understand. I would pick this book up due to the cover, and the blurb draws me in, but otherwise if I already knew it was sci-fi/fantasy I probably would've skimmed right over this.
