Having been a fan of Christopher Paolini for many years, I remember from the Inheritance Cycle that he is one of the greatest world-builders I have come across, and this has only advanced since then.

In just two chapters, To Sleep in a Sea of Stars pulled me out of my everyday life on earth and placed me firmly in the wider universe full of intrigue and questions. Already I am invested in the characters and found myself gasping aloud as I reached the end of the excerpt, frantically wishing I could keep going. I am strongly invested in the relationship between Kira and Alan and want to see them succeed.

The story is filled with lovely, detailed descriptions, particularly of the hydroponics bay and it's abundant flora. It hints at so much more to be revealed.

Overall, I think this book will be a reminder that humans are humanity, no matter where in the galaxy they end up. I am so keen to uncover the mysteries of this reality.
