I haven't read Paolini's earlier Inheritance cycle and have only a limited experience with space operas, as such this was a bit of a blind start and I'm already impressed. Though taking place far in the future, the high quality writing style and happenings are easily digestible and with just enough intrigue. This sampler was very fast-moving and ends in a cliffhanger that had me wanting to read more.
