This book's gorgeous cover is a clue to the beautiful storytelling within. This was a glorious work of historical fiction that contained so many elements that came perfectly together, including some mystery, romance, intrigue, and a hint of the supernatural. Told from the perspective of protagonist Jenny Bell, most of the story takes place in New York during 1924, with some parts narrated afterwards in 1957. This book captured my attention right from the beginning and held it throughout.

One of the things I particularly liked about this book was the way I felt naturally immersed in the 1920's. I also liked the backdrop of artists and Tiffany's art colony. The story unfolded excellently, and kept me guessing, and occasionally gasping. This brought out emotions in the way that all of my favorite books do.

This book is for you if you enjoy reading prose such as, "His voice was the blue of a smooth saxophone playing in a smoky nightclub." I highly recommend this book!
