I felt a bit let down by M. J. Rose's "Tiffany Blues." I was interested in the history of the story - Louis Comfort Tiffany and his beautiful estate, where much of the story takes place. Jenny Bell, the main character, is the best developed, but I felt even she was a bit one-note. Jenny's history is told in flashbacks throughout the novel, but much of the resolution of the mystery was easily discernible long before the actual reveal. I enjoyed the history, but wished for more fully developed characters. Romance is nice, but in this book it was too obvious.

The author's use of color description is lovely. Tiffany's work is revealed through his use of color. Another example is a game Jenny played with her mother in which they described people's voices as colors. Jenny's fascination with light (and dark) adds another layer.
