The author's name caught my eye first. After that it was the book cover. It reflects the descriptions of the scenery those first few chapters meander through. Everything feels so lush, so full of color. And somehow, that makes the introduction to Jenny all the more interesting. Her stark contrast in capturing light while staying to monochrome makes her all the more interesting to read about.
