This sounds like such a cool premise // ARTIST'S COLONY 1920s MYSTERIOUS FIRES young love DRAMA rich people TRAGIC CHILDHOODS. But it's written so clinically, so blandly, with some cliche sprinkles here and there. I was pretty disappointed. I found myself forgetting sentences as I was reading them. I generally don't pick up historical fiction, and unfortunately, this excerpt would be a prime example why. Thanks for the first look.
