The best part about historical fiction is getting to read a story that introduces things you didn't know about but still uses wonderful narrative language. Even in the author's note at the beginning, I was learning things I didn't know about. Told from the perspective of a young artist, the character's love of art shines in the way the author writes- there are lots of descriptions of color that make the story seem extra vivid. Jenny seems like a fascinating character to base the book around- artistic, young, and with some secrets hiding in her past. Combined with the gorgeous cover this seems like one not to miss!
