I know the old saying, "Don't judge a book by its cover," but my goodness, the cover of this book is exquisite. From the "Author's Note" forward, I am hooked. In my mind's eye, I can picture all of the beautiful, bustling action that once took place at Laurelton Hall. The descriptive first paragraph of the "Prologue" mirrors that of the cover of the book, which I adore. Throughout the first chapter, what I love most about this book is the use of vivid language, especially the descriptive colors the author describes. Again, this language mirrors that of the beautiful book cover, and I think that is really fascinating. I can not wait to read this book to dive into the whole story of the "magical and awful summer of 1924". Thank you to M.J. Rose for giving readers such a treasure to read!
