I felt disengaged with the narrative from the start. I don't know why or how it happened, but from the first sentence I was a little weary about the book. Yet I love the 1920s setting, and it feels like this will be different compared to different books. This is one I will probably check out of the library just in case because I want to love it and I want to give it a chance, but so far I'm not all that interested.
