A huge fan of historical fiction I was drawn into this book by the cover and topic. The author's note, however, moved it from my "would like to read" to my "must read" pile. I loved hearing of her inspiration for the novel. The First Impression revealed just enough of the details and storyline to demonstrate the author's impressive literary chops.
