“The firstborn was the spinner, who could weave new threads. The second was the drawer; she could elongate or shorten a thread, intensifying or weakening the corresponding feeling. And the youngest was the cutter, able to cut whatever thread she desired, even life-threads.”

These Moira-born sisters, can see the threads of Fate. Their parents are dead. They live in the sunken city of Alante. Thais moved away, while Io and Ava still lives together.

The story revolves around Io, the youngest sister, the cutter of the threads. She is a private investigator and focuses her work on cheaters and scammers. So when the cheating husband that she is following is killed by what seems to be a mad woman that should be dead, things get complicated very quickly.

“There are crimes,” the old woman said, removed as if in a trance, “that cannot go unpunished. I will rise from the ashes a daughter of flame.”

The mad woman attacked her, then fell out of a window. At this point we learn that Io has a rare thread connecting her to her fate-thread, the boy she is destined to love.

There is even more that happens in this snippet, so much more that you will fly through it all.

The connection to Greek mythology and the Greek gods and goddesses and the powers associated with each of them is interesting, and I want to learn what other connections and powers there will be. The world is fascinating. The storytelling thus far was fast-paced and drove forward the main plot, as well as several sub-plots perfectly. There is a good balance between information sharing and furthering the story, which makes the reading experience more enjoyable.

The sneak peak had been cut off at the perfect place, everything inside me demands to know more… about where the story is going, about the questions that needs answers, about all of it…
