Why did it end like this?! Ahhhh I need book 2 yesterday. This was so good. I blind grabbed this book because of the cover. Don't hate I cover judge and read sometimes. I was intrigued by rhe unique magic system and the incorporation of Greek gods. Definitely havebt read something like this before.
I really like Io. She has her heart and passion in the right place with a humble attitude but yet is still young and maybe a little naive. Thumbs up to the author for including mental health issues in a normal type of way without.making it the entire characters identity. Io has anxiety because she is a thread cutter. She can decide what someone loves, forgets and likes. She can take a life away. Cutting threads doesn't come without a price for Io. She needs one of her own threads to cut another.
Io sister Ava lives with her and they got closer after their sister Thais up and left randomly one day. Ava could barely function after that and Io seemed relieved but plagued with guilt over Thais leaving. Io ends up encountering a wraith while on one of her jobs. She mostly spies on people and cuts threads for those with addictions. Simple and dangerous. This wraith tries to kill her for crimes she has committed. This leads Io to discover there are more victims. What's even more peculiar this wraith has a frayed thread without an end. In this world impossible. That means death.
From here Io goes on a magical adventure trying to solve these mystery murders while keeping herself alive and facing her deep dark secret she kept hidden from everyone except Thais. There's just enough romance to make it believable. Betrayel to break your heart. Twists and turns to make you gasp and slam the cover shut. Great fantasy read for sure.
