I like the fact that instead of this fantasy novel being grim world-ending in theme that instead it has a mystery at its core. Fantasy mysteries seem to be rare beasts and therefore are interesting reading. It does seem weird that it takes place on a different planet and yet it has many of the trappings, technology and cultures of Earth.
