The concept of life-threads and Quilt described in this book grabbed my attention immediately because it’s unique and exciting. Great world-building. All of the places mentioned so far are vividly described which made it super easy to imagine myself as one of the characters, walking the streets of the mysterious, dark Silts. I also really enjoyed Io’s character, her internal thoughts and doubts, and how she copes with her job as she sees herself as a “professional breaker of hearts.” The meeting between Io and Edei - her fate-thread soulmate was interesting to read about because only Io is aware that they are destined to be together. Well, that's at least what we know so far. Io’s determination to keep this secret, as well as her growing feelings for Edei hidden from the rest of the world, (but mostly from Edei) even if it means chasing deadly wraiths across Alante all by herself made me laugh because, in some weird way, it was… relatable? I look forward to reading the rest of it!
