I will preface this by saying I don’t read a lot of science fiction. However I had heard such good things about this one I had to give it a good read. No one told me it was a romance as well, an enemies to lovers trope, my favorite. It took me awhile to figure out what the rivaling agencies were fighting for, but ultimately I am not sure it really mattered. Are there two more obvious rivals than Red and Blue? Right now in politics, in this book as top agents in their respective agencies. The hoo through time and place with references to historical times, people and places helped ground me in this wild tale. I loved how Red and Blue left the letters for each other that made up the bulk of the book. They really got to know each other through those letters and sharing of themselves which led to a beautiful love. I didn’t know what sex, color, or anything about each of them which was so clever and gave this book universal appeal, they could be anyone and found love in spite of war.
