I was excited to receive an ARC of This is How You Lose the Time War because of the time travel element. One of my favorite shows recently has been Timeless, where a group of travelers visits different places in different years throughout history to preserve history. This book turned out to be in a different vein.
PLOT
The main character is the best at what she does, which is to embed herself in different time strands to effect change. On one such mission, she receives a hidden message from her counterpart; this perplexes her while also piquing her interest. The two communicate back and forth until they form a close relationship, which they must hide from their respective groups.
CHARACTERS
Conversing with another agent who is the best at what she does gives Red a joy she doesn't otherwise have in her life. Blue has always been part of a whole, and she recognizes in Red the wish to be her own person. Their relationship allows them to grow, which their previous lives have never offered.
STYLE
Somewhat hard to follow.
