Beautiful but Too Abstract

I picked this up because everyone was screaming about the enemies to lovers time travel lesbians, and though it delivered on that premise I was left feeling disappointed and a little lost. This book was a lot shorter than I expected, and I think that was part of the problem for me. In terms of world building, it wasn't super concrete. Everything was more abstract and up in the air, and though some people might like that, it didn't work for me. I also didn't quite understand how they fell in love. I just wanted more development in the romance as well. Though I think it was very beautifully written and atmospheric, the lack of development and depth really made this book fall short of what I wanted.
