This is How You Lose the Time War is a short novel about Red and Blue, two time-traveling agents from warring factions, as they each attempt to outsmart and outmaneuver the other. Over the course of their cat and mouse game, the two develop a deep connection through short letters spread across time for the other to find. I loved the epistolary formatting of this novel as it gave more insight into the inner conflicts of these characters and allowed us to witness the growth of their connection through the vulnerability of their letters' content. The prose was beautiful and being written by two different authors was a fabulous touch. I devoured this book in one afternoon, wanting to get to the resolution of the story. Overall, I gave this book 4.5 out of 5 stars. It was an enjoyable read with several insightful moments that make you ponder the nature of survival, freedom, longing, and desire.
