I was immediately drawn in by the lush language describing a battlefield post-defeat, of a dying planet, and the curling vines of curiosity of the protagonist. Or is she perhaps the antagonist? She is made to calculate and manipulate the timelines controlled by her home office but there is an opposing force. One that she fears and even more than a bit, someone she wants to know more about.
