I have no doubt that this book will appeal to many readers, but I'm not one of them. The First Impression introduces us to Red at the end of what I assume was a bloody battle. The writing reminds me of a story intro at the beginning of a video game. The narration style feels like a narrator telling us what's going on, rather than us experiencing it from the character's perspective. The whole thing is just too weird for me.
