The opening pages were dynamite. The authors have weaved a net that catches you and won't let go, it sets the mood and the tone of the story, but leaves you wanting more. Being sci-fi it's also very nicely descriptive which is important in the genre because sometimes when authors assume you can visualize what they mean with vague descriptors it muddies up the narrative.
