Intriguing, lush and evocative first pages.

The imagery is what caught my attention from the start, followed second by an otherworldly, literary quality to the writing. I like that the beginning is familiar but still a little disorienting. There are so many layers in those first pages that promise an intriguing and engrossing story and I want to see how it turns out. I want to know how things came to be the way they are in the first scene, the Agency's motivation and endgame and what her adversary's all about.
