Intriguing but Short First Look

This first look was certainly intriguing! There are mysteries I'm curious about and I've also been interested in reading something by Max Gladstone, so I'd definitely consider picking up this book. However, the excerpt was a bit too short to pull me in. I would have liked to read another chapter or two to get a better feel for the story.
