This was a great action and adventure book, the very definition of a page-turner. It made me think of other popular books from a number of different genres, all of which have been mentioned in other reviews so I won't repeat them here. But the takeaway is that any book combining so many cool elements from other great books seemed bound to be an excellent read, and it definitely was. Yet there were also important elements that set this book apart from the others. The main character's family background combined with what happened to her mother to create a unique set of skills and motives that drove the main character forward. I really liked the way that the action was intertwined with the relationships among the characters because it kept the book from seeming one-dimensional. I can't wait to see the movie, but I'm glad to have read the book first!
