The beginning of the book is quite the introduction. One of the initial sentences is about being twisted like a Twizzler into a pretzel into a tiny cabinet. This sentence alone caused me to keep reading as I felt compelled to knew exactly what warranted a sentence like this. I also was intrigued by the narrator's mom as she seems like an interesting force in the main character's life. The preview of this book would definitely make me keep reading as I have not entirely grasped what it is the narrator and their mother is doing or what kind of organization or ring they are a part of. I was drawn to this novel because of the cover art. The bright red cover drew my eye in first and then the imagery of the sharp letters aligned with people sprinting in opposite directions made me want to find out more. The preview of this book definitely catches the readers attention and I am interested to learn more about the operation being run in the novel.
