The YA mystery/thriller we never knew we needed
They Wish They Were us is the type of YA mystery thriller that we as readers not only want, but deserve (particularly with what a beast this year has been.) For this of us reading this novel already out of high school, prepare for the nostalgia- I’m talking the smell of watermelon lipgloss in air, first love and all the drama you can handle.
What immediately drew me into this novel though wasn’t any of those things, it was the shocking murder of a young woman. A violent act like this would not only change the lives of her fellow students, but also the lives of everyone in the town. It’s the type of book that you want to keep reading throughout the night in the hopes of putting all the puzzle pieces together and getting the satisfying ending you have been looking for. This book is perfect for fans of YA mystery thrillers such as Truly Devious, One of Us is Lying and A Good Girl’s Guide to Murder and TV lovers of Gossip Girl and Pretty Little Liars. An absolute must!
