Prep School Murder Mystery Reminiscent of Pretty Little Liars
This book is the Gossip Girl and Pretty Little Liars of young adult novels. We follow Jill Newman who is a Senior at an Elite Prep School. During her Freshman year, she became a part of the popular clique called "The Players." In order to be initiated into this group, she had to be chosen and then complete multiple "Pops" (hazing). Adam, a senior at the school at the time, picked her when she was a Freshman. She has always had a major crush on him. While completing the final initiation task, Jill's best friend Shaila was murdered and her boyfriend Graham was convicted of the crime. Everyone in this group is forced to accept it and move on with their lives. Years later, Graham is claiming his innocence and Jill's life turns upside down. If Graham is innocent, who killed Shaila? It turns out Shaila had some secrets of her own. Jill has to know the truth and will do anything to find out.
I gave this book 4 stars but would really consider it 3.5 stars. The writing style was okay. It was definitely meant for teens. The plot was interesting but I easily guessed the murderer about halfway through. I wish it had a bit more twists and turns.
