I really had trouble reading this book. Initially, I was excited to read this book with how intriguing the premise was. I mean secret societies in a school and a murder mystery sounds pretty epic, right?
I struggled so much that I had to periodically put it down as I read it.
First of all, nobody was likable.
Now, usually I'm fine with this, characters aren't always supposed to be likable. But, in this case, our heroine is unlikeable. It's quite obvious that I'm supposed to be routing for her and empathize with her struggles but I just...don't.
Second, the twist could be seen a mile away.
I won't go into the twist because of spoilers but trust me, it was super obvious.
Third, what even was Jill's character arc?
She changes her mind so fast it made my head spin. Again, spoilers but basically she makes a huge decision that there is almost no lead up to.
The reason it's a two star is because the writing was pretty decent and was okay to read.
If you want a book to fill your time, this probably would be a good one to read.
