I was on the fence about buying this for the library and now I’m firmly on the no side. It sounded fun and teens are very into mystery right now but this is ridiculous. The book starts by saying getting out of high school alive is a big deal. What in the world kind of message is that? Teens are already stressed and dramatic. Why would anyone add this idea into the mix? I file this one up there with 13 reasons why. A book that makes me rage and stomp around waiting for the day it can be weeded and that show is no longer available on Netflix. There are just things you don’t put in the hands of teens. We need to nurture them not let them focus on death and some kind of meaningful possibility or fear in the moment.
