First of all, the cover drew me in immediately, because my school uniform had a very similar skirt for the winter. Secondly, the description drew me in just from the books it is compared to, so I was excited to read the excerpt.

That being said, the preface alone made me want to keep reading to discover what happened to Shaila.

The style of writing makes the novel easy to read. Personally, I enjoy when there is a lot of dialogue between the characters, which makes it easier to understand the character better. Recently, I have read books where the passages are formatted in a way that the dialogue and text are not differentiated, so I find the way this novel is formatted to be pleasing.

Overall, I'm excited to read the book in its entirety, since I thoroughly enjoy YA books in a high school setting.
