They Wish They Were Us is a YA thriller/mystery set in a private school.
The setting is one of the reasons I was drawn to this book. Private schools seem to be more interesting to me.
It took me a long time to read this book. I had to put it back in my shelf and come back to it months later. It was almost a DNF for me.
But I’m glad I didn’t fully give up on it.
This book fell a little short for me.
The big mystery wasn’t much of a mystery if you ask me. I figured it out almost immediately.
I also found the characters to be super annoying but I’m guessing that’s the point.
I did like the storyline about the Players. I did wish we had gotten more background on the past players. Maybe a prequel?
Overall it wasn’t a bad book it was just missing something for me.
This is a mix of Gossip Girl and Pretty Little Liars. While I didn’t love it, I did like it and look forward to the show.
