The book begins with a funerary tribute to a girl named Shaila a well known student at Gold Coast a school meant for the rich and influential further as you read, you catch a glimpse of what it is to be from an elite school and the benefits these schools provide in getting you into Ivy League colleges which is like an entry into the elite within the elite.

The protagonist of the story Jilly Newman who doesn't happen to be from an elite class gets into the school through scholarship and is now finally a senior she is exited and anxious to start the year on a good note parallel to this she is shown being reminiscent about her years as a junior which began with her first meeting with Shaila Arnold the girl who is the sheer epitome of perfection she doesn't have to be pretentious in any way because she is tailor made for this environment. She has influenced Jilly to such an extent and made her feel like she belonged there and she deserved to be a Player. In addition to this Jilly's friend circle comprising Nikki, Marla, Henry, Robert, Quentin. I absolutely love how they are a bunch of fun loving quirky teens each with a unique personality a sense of ambition and approach towards senior year.

The book goes on to give us a view about Jilly's life now as a free spirited senior with a boyfriend and her squad who tag alongside her and that was all until Graham's older sister Rachel Calloway Captain of the field hockey team. President of their class. She was a towering god- dess. A senior. A Player. That made it all so much worse her brother was sentenced away for killing his girlfriend Shaila using blunt force at least that's what her death certificate says although his sister claims that he's innocent and tries to contact Jilly.

The book is almost impossible to put down after this cliffhanger. Looking forward to finishing it in a fortnight .
