Young adult titles are like the guilty pleasure that I read in part nostalgia, in part with the hope of connecting with own teen and because SO many incredible authors live in this genre.

This excerpt from They Wish They Were Us by Jessica Goodman shows that her debut novel is going to be the start of an incredible author career. WOW.

Jill Newman's senior year at Gold Coast Prep should be everything high schoolers dream of, especially as part of the in crowd. Being a Player guarantees her the future of someone with privilege, and her and her friends have earned the right to be on top, especially after her best friend, Shaila, was killed freshman year.

Graham confessed, but why is his sister texting Jill his innocence? What other secrets and lies does she not know?

The fast paced story left me wanting more, I couldn't put the pages down and was SO crushed when I got to the end of the excerpt and couldn't find a way to immediately devour the rest of this novel! The voice this story was written in was perfection. The timeline was flawless. As I believe the first YA thriller I have ever met, my high expectations for anything claiming to be similar to Gossip Girl was not only met, but exceeded.
