YA isn't my typical genre, but I do like a Mean Girls type of story, and this had it going on. A murder that was solved but may not have been properly investigated - so the perpetrator may still be out there - hovers over the most elite clique in the most elite of prep schools. Told from the first person perspective of one of the girls herself, a bit of an outsider as a scholarship recipient, her narrative expresses the right mix of confidence, intelligence and vulnerability to keep me reading. Now that I've got the feel for the group of six friends and the setting of their senior year of high school, I want to know ... was Graham really not Shaila's killer? And if not, why did he take the rap for it, and who really did kill her? Is it one of the remaining six friends? I really kinda wanna know!! The cover is perfect for this story, it so perfectly sums up the blend between a private school girl clique and murder.
