I'm generally fond of young adult novels and based on the book's description, my curiosity was piqued. The book cover also got my attention with its gold scripted title against a dark background.

However, after reading the excerpt, I wasn't that impressed. The storyline has merit. A student's brutal murder with the boyfriend as the alleged perpetrator, and the perp's sister claiming his innocence.

What I didn't like was that the story revolved around elitist preparatory high schoolers -- rich, conceited, and exuding privilege -- The Players. Maybe the victim got what she deserved. You'll have to read the rest of the book to find out.

A pretty good cliffhanger, but not one for me. Two stars -- it was okay.
