This was a slow start for me. 50 some pages of high school drama--not just any old high schoolers, but entitled prep school students. Descriptions of the cliques, the snobbery, the partying, drugs, booze, hazing--it's all there with all the bad language and cool lingo. The best sentence was this: "It was a relief that he hadn’t shown interest in the parties, the desperate, hungry need to let go in the darkness, the urgency that we all felt to destroy something and prove ourselves," which gave me the tiniest inkling of hope that the author had some depth that was yet to be revealed. Nothing happens until page 44... It looks like things are about to pick up, but the twist will have to be really good to overcome the drudgery of high school culture.

I do like the cover art, but maybe the title should've been a warning. I really don't envy the elite or care about their entitled lives, so maybe this book was not for me.
