This book reminds me of Pretty Little Liars more than Gossip Girl. A young woman dies leaving behind a group of popular friends and a mystery behind her death that will no doubt have as many twists and turns as the death of Alison DiLaurentis. I think that this book will be a great read for anyone who loves a good high school-oriented suspense story. The excerpt sets the stage for both a mystery and a love triangle that will keep the audience engaged. There were parts at the beginning that seemed a bit cliche to me, but I feel like, as the story goes on, the book will take a shape of its own and be able to break past the tropes. The flashback stories are a good way to already differentiate this story from those that are similar to it. I hope that this book does exceed my expectations and become something of its own instead of getting lost in the pile of books that tell the same story.
