This reads sort of like a journal to me. I remember being a teenager and it wasn't fun. Jill's life is complicated; this is her senior year and it should be great. She's popular, a member of the ruling clique, and sits at the best lunch table. The rub, though, is the murder of her best friend freshman year. Her best friend' was killed by her boyfriend and every year begins with a tribute. Jill still has nightmares. Now, she's receiving texts that say the boyfriend is innocent.

This book is gripping. Since it does read from Jill's perspective, there are so many questions the reader immediately wants answered. How exactly was her friend murdered? What led to the murder? Where were the other members of the clique when the murder occurred? These questions aren't immediately answered. More questions arise. What's so compelling about this Adam Miller? And so on. The reader just must know.
