A captivating opening to a new book, and an equally striking cover! While the tone is almost too familiar in being similar to Gossip Girls and Pretty Little Liars, I'm sure it will stand out better once I have a sense of the story and the characters. In terms of being familiar but different, the cover does a great job with the familiar plaid skirt background and the friendship bracelets. The cover seems almost innocuous until you notice that the "Us" bracelet is broken and that the bottom of the plaid skirt seems to be soaked in blood. Very spooky and foreboding -- I'm looking forward to seeing where this goes.
