Why did we have to suffer? Why were we chosen? How had we lost control? It’s hard to remember what we were like before, when anger was just temporary.

The idea behind what makes a person so angry seems so simple, yet so complex. They Wish They Were Us definitely fits the bill of drama, betrayal, and the test of friendships. I was pulled in from the starting wanting to know more. The cover seems to match the premise of the story too. The prep school plaid, the mean girl facade of "they wish they were us," the subtle idea that Jill and Shaila are represented by the broken "us," and the blood surrounding Shaila's murder.
