They'll Never Catch Us is a YA book that is focused on two sisters who are both excellent cross country runners. Stella and Ellie are competitive and are hoping for college scholarships for running. Stella is a junior and Ellie is a sophomore. There was an incident last year that cost Stella her free ride to Georgetown (but the author really drags her feet in letting us know what that incident was... a tactic that bothers me) so she's trying very hard to redeem herself this year.

Enter Mila, a new girl from Connecticut. She's an excellent runner as well and Stella immediately is threatened by her. Slowly she starts to realize that Mila is someone that can push her in running. Only then Mila disappears. Incidentally other cross country runners have disappeared from their town in the past. Is this a case of the killer returning (as those murders were never solved) or is this a new killer?

The mystery part of this book was lacking, but I did like the character development of the sisters. There were some flaws in this book (in the way that cross country is portrayed... at one point a 5k was being done on a track... which is fine, but a 5k is 3.1 miles. Four laps of a track is one mile. In the book, Stella was on her sixth and last lap for that race... so either the track is giant or there are some errors with regard to cross country here).

Overall it was a quick read and I wanted to see what happened and how everything was resolved.
