They’ll Never Catch Us by Jessica Goodman tells the story of sisters Stella and Ellie Steckler. Even though they are related they are very different people. Stella is a dedicated runner who wants be the best. She keeps to herself and is a bit of a longer. Ellie is also a good runner, but has a social life. She has her eyes on a boy too. It’s very apparent from this expert that even though the girls are close in age they have very different ideas of fun. This book is very well written. The characters are believable as real teenagers trying to figure out life. They act and speak in a way that’s relatable to actual high schoolers. Their family also seems to have a lot of issues they are working through. I think it will be interesting to explore the girls’ relationship with each other as well as the rest of their family. I’m also interested into the book because of the sports element. I think that’s going to play a big role in both of the girls’ psyches. I love a mystery and a teen coming of age story so I’m looking forward to reading this book.
