While certain aspects of the sneak-peak felt somewhat cliche to the YA genre (a sister no one likes vs a sister who everyone loves and it desperate for the other's approval, the town haunted by a dark past, etc.), these are all made up for by the character dynamics. We already know that Mila is going to die, and we can infer that Stella is going to fall in love with her and that she'll get close to the sisters, which keeps the reader wanting to turn the pages to figure out what exactly happens and how it will explain the previous mystery of the three dead girls. The book is really good at combining the vagueness of the past with the certainty of the future. The writing style is also smooth and fun to read.
