So, the storyline starts with a prophecy from Sorcerer Solomon foretelling of his own demise and it gets better, with all sorts of twists and turns from there.

This was a nice murder mystery mixed with fantasy story. Plus, there's magic, fortune-telling, and unique talents! The book was fast enough paced to not get bored, but still had a satisfying end. I liked the main character Tabatha Zeng (Sorcerer Solomon's apprentice and now a suspect in his murder) and the plot and the mix of genres, even a bit of romance, all in a young adult novel (so pretty clean for younger readers). The writing style was pretty decent and I like the cover of the book. This reminded me of other books (or maybe a television series or movie I've seen) but I can't quite put my finger on which ones. Overall, I would give this four stars and I'd most likely read this author again.
